• It reports usage and your install data to PressTrends. It’s VERY easy to miss in the changelog (since v3.4.4). If you don’t want your personal information being sent to an analytics company without your consent DON’T INSTALL.

It reports usage and your install data to PressTrends.

That’s probably not good (and I am installing to verify) but I guess my real question is…

Why did you rate this plugin with 5 stars if you are concerned about all that?

That seems odd to me. ??

I didn’t change the rating before submitting. =(

Apologies, it was an oversight on our end.

I have immediately removed the Presstrends function call, and an opt-in mechanism will be introduced in the next version. That is, no data will be sent unless you choose to send said data yourself.

By opting-in and allowing us to collect data about your installation, you are helping us improve the plugin.

I understand the usefulness of analytics. But when I’m using it for non-profits and other clients, it’s not up to me to decide if they want that kind of information sent out or even if they are allowed. Having an option to opt-in or opt-out would be much appreciated.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain your scenario.

I totally agree with you and reiterate for the sake of others taking a look at this thread: Presstrends analytics data collection has been disabled in 3.5.2, and it will be introduced again on an opt-in basis in the next version of the plugin.
