• Hi guys,

After installing Better wp-security I got a 500 server error on my backend, I cleared all my plugins and my site recovered. This is what I’ve found so far:

Activating Better wp security + contact form 7 = 500 server error
Deactivating everything and only activating Jetpack = 500 server error
Better wp security active + all plugins active except Jetpack and contact form 7 = normal working of my site

I won’t mind removing better wp security, but would really like to have jetpack back. Any ideas? because right now If I activate jetpack I get a 500 server error immediately in my backend.

I restored de .htaccess and it seems the wp-config is ok too…
    thanks a lot

So the jetpack plugin update came 4 days ago, updated and the problem seems to be resolved for now.

I updated bwps and all-in-one-seo plugins at the same time, and got a 500 error.
I deleted the bwps plugin, but I was not able to edit the .htaccess file. However, I could delete it and replace it with the same content without everything between BWPS start and finish lines.
The site worked, but I just finished with a massive outside attack on the wp admin area (over 5000 automatic bwps IP lockouts in 3 days), and I feel naked without bwps.
I didn’t think about the aio-seo plugin at the time – will remove that and see what happens.

Further to the above – I finally went back and reinstalled an earlier version of the plugin, and that seemed to cure the problems. At this point I have not reinstalled the all-in-one seo plugin. Will try that now that the system is stable and safe, and report back.

Ah – sorry, the site is https://jimmycraig.info/
