Better than Some Paid Options!
-
Forminator is honestly so much better than some other paid form builders! You can actually accomplish a good amount with the free version! Multipage forms and some basic calculations make this pretty strong. As far as free options, Forminator is the absolute, indisputable best, but for the paid version, it is probably good but not the best.
If you are trying to make “advanced” forms, there are a few things missing from this form builder:
- Calculations cannot use any parts of the official address block. There are so many things that depend on address. There should at least be a way to assign values to the city, state, and nation.
- There is no way to stop someone from going to the next page. Going to the next page cannot be conditioned. For example, if someone is outside your service area, you cannot stop the person from continuing to complete a multipage form then giving you a bad review for wasting the person’s time when the person cannot submit at the end.
- Even if you only want to assign a value to 2 out of a hundred options, a value must be assigned individually to every option. It seems obvious that we should be able to assign values to the ones we need and just assign a default value to the others.
- The options can be edited in bulk, but the conditions cannot. That means connecting strings from different questions is difficult and limited. There is no way to have a calculation arrive at a string. For example, if a drop-down answer is selected for a specific service and I wanted to give a message saying, “Your case is being assigned to [blank],” it would be very difficult to connect the service string to the case manager string.
