• Our agency kicked out “Cookie Yes” on all of our customer’s websites because it is annoyingly pushy with its Pro version and has functional weaknesses in the free version. We replaced it with “Complianz” which is clearly better but has several flaws. E.g. the category “marketing” is appearing although we don’t use any marketing cookies. The cookie banner has too much empty space inthe right area. We use Matomo but just as a plugin ond not on a separate server URL. Complianz demands a Matomo URL that doesn’t exist when you use the Matomo plugin. So we can only configure Complianz as if we don’t use Matomo although we do. Not sure whethet this might cause legal problems.

    Hi @jgastmann,

Thank you for using Complianz, and for providing your kind review and feedback. I hope you’ll allow me to clarify a few things.

    Marketing category

Aside of whether your site uses Marketing cookies, there are other factors that Complianz considers when activating the Marketing category in your Cookie Banner, based on your answers during the Wizard. Examples would be questions such as: “Does your site use third-party services?” and “Does your website contain embedded social media content…”

In any case, if you do not wish to display a Marketing category; you could opt to disable it under Complianz > Cookie Banner > Categories by turning the Marketing slider off.

    Matomo

You can use Complianz with the Matomo plugin, and have several options to configure, please find them listed here: https://complianz.io/configuring-matomo-for-wordpress-with-complianz/

To summarize: when using the official Matomo plugin, your “Tracking URL” would look like:

    https://domain.com/wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/

Your Matomo Site ID is visible in the Matomo Admin.

    Cookie banner

The cookie banner can be customized as desired under the Cookie Banner settings page, and if these options do not suffice for your use case; we provide various instructions on how to apply further changes with CSS: https://complianz.io/?s=css+lesson

We would be glad to help you along the way, of course. I’m positive that we can help you create your favorite Cookie Banner!

    Kind regards,

    Jarno

    Hi @jgastmann,

I think I can help you with these problems. Let me give a quick answer, and if you need any help, just let me know. I can work it all out for you.

    1. The marketing category is enabled automatically if we find any possible marketing related cookie. We can do two things here, I can have a look at your website to see if this correct, or you can disable the category under cookie banner settings by using the toggle after the category name.

The most common reason the marketing category is still enabled is due to the questions “Does your website use third-party services?” is answered with Yes, without selecting a service. This can be found under Consent – Services in the wizard.

To be honest, I have to check if this is correct when local hosting Google Fonts.

    2. The empty area is probably caused due to the buttons text being longer than expected. This should normally correct automatically. You can adjust the width of the cookie banner under cookie banner settings to correct this. If you need help, I can write some CSS to fix this issue.

    3. The Matomo plugin can be used with Complianz. De URL in this case is yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/ as explained here: https://complianz.io/configuring-matomo-for-wordpress-with-complianz/

You can use Matomo and Complianz in different set-ups. Make sure either Matomo adds the tracking script, or Complianz. Not both.

Hope this helped, if I need to get into more detail or have a look at your website. Let me know! Thanks for the feedback. regards Aert
