• Prefixes item id with “gla_” which can cause big problems if you are switching from another feed.

Unable to disable Universal Analytics, GA4, GTM, or any other configured tags in Google, which leads to duplicate tags and duplicate event issues when using other modules such as Google Site Kit, et.al. Unfortunately turning it off entirely is a problem because of the prefix mentioned above.

As a beginner it was great. As the site advanced moving to the next level has been made much harder.

  • Hi @pldoolittle,

Thank you for taking the time to review this plugin. We value your feedback!

Prefixes item id with “gla_” which can cause big problems if you are switching from another feed.

We’re aware of this problem and there’s a GitHub issue here. Our developers are still looking into the best approach to address it.

For context, the prefix was added to avoid collisions if merchants are using number-based IDs for existing products in their feeds. It was also meant to help identify which products were added by Google Listings & Ads as opposed to other sources (if users are syncing products via multiple sources to Google Merchant Center)

As you’ve noticed, this problem is specific to advanced users who are integrating other tracking pixels – we’re looking into the best possible way to address it without impacting other users. Part of our consideration for fixing this issue is providing users with the option to set a prefix if they require it. I recommend following the GitHub issue so you’ll be notified if there’s an update.

Additionally, we’ll be grateful if you can add your ideas to the issue.

The extension’s tracking was integrated specifically for tracking the Google free listings and paid campaign analytics. We do not recommend removing it.

    Thank you!
