• Hi all!

I wonder, why isn’t it possible to search for the most populair plugins or themes when one enters a search term?

For example; when I search for a popup plugin, I see popup plugins with a bad rating and a small amount of downloads first. This happens a lot of times when I search for a theme or plugin.

Why isn’t it possible to search for a term and then select ‘by popularity’, ‘amount of downloads’ or by the amount of stars?

    Just a thought.

Have a great day my WordPress friends,

    DutchMan

This is probably only answerable by the people who run www.remarpro.com, but I’d say that searching for ‘amount of downloads’ and ‘amount of star ratings’ is not meaningful.

Yes, that is why I posted this request here, I don’t think Matt Mullenweg would answer my emails.

Why would it not be useful?
Now we get to see all kinds of plugins and themes, some of worse always popup first. 1 star, 2 downloads and when one scrolls down or goes to the next page, the best plugins or themes show up.
By searching for the amount of stars or downloads, one knows that a plugin or theme is wanted or not, good or bad.

The reason why I don’t think it would be meaningful to filter by rating is that the review/ rating system at www.remarpro.com is not similar Amazon’s rating (as an example). The rating system here is only meant to indicate someone’s experience with the plugin. It is entirely possible for a plugin to be excellent and have poor ratings, ratings do not usually indicate the quality of a plugin.

I think it’s not practical at all.
When I need a plugin or a theme, I always use Google.
I am sure a lot of people agree that the internal search option could be much better.
