Better search in 0.80?

  • Hi;
    I downloaded the latest CVS, its excellent, everything seems to be working perfectly so far… I was just curious to know if we will get the better search and archives in 0.80?

  • Good archives are already possible, you just need to change you template a bit. Check out my archives. It’s not quite where I want it yet, as year and month should probably display something other than all the posts from that year or month, but it’s getting there.
    As for search, I’d love to hear some ideas concerning that. Or even better, some code. It should probably be seperated out into wp-search.php.

    Well, the main aim of my better search and better archives ideas are that the whole postings are not displayed, rather only the post titles are. For instance, on your archives, after you click a month, there should be another list displayting all of the postings (their titles), you can then click the titles to read the whole post.
    For the search… a list of posting titles would be displayed matching the search criteria. A better search was developed for b2, I dont know by whom though, it was a hack. It was excellent.

    I have it displaying my titles and an excerpt from the post currently.

    as for search. i only miss the highlighting of the term that was originally searched in the result window. highlighting can be described in the css file so that we can define our own style for that. other than that i think i can live with the current search.
    maybe is the result are more that 10 posts, the possibility of next 10 results can be looked into, but i am not demanding that much. highlighting will be good. ??
