I have just installed Better Notifications for WordPress to be able to edit the New User Registration email that is sent to the user (to set password and login link) – for starters.

I’ve watched the BNFW Introduction video, but I’m not finding how to edit existing WordPress default emails. I have added new > selected New User Registration – for User > and tried to click Insert Default Content… but nothing happens? Is there any video or page that explains step by step how to do this please?

    Thank you!

    Hi @aiyana22,
    Thanks for your message.

    What you’re doing is correct.
The default email that is sent to a user when they register (or are registered by an Admin), is called ‘New user Registration – For User’ in BNFW.
When you add this notification in BNFW, and add the content you want, this email should override the one that WordPress sends out.
It sounds like a javascript error on your site is preventing the default content from being added. For now, I’d recommend using this support document as a guide for which information you can include in that notification: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/shortcodes/?notification=new-user

Let me know if this helps.

    Thank you for that.

Following your explanation, I googled what I could do with a javascript error, and the first recommendation was to reload the page… and that worked! The default content appeared.

    Hi @aiyana22,
Great! Glad you got that part working.

Does the notification in BNFW now override the default email in WordPress when a user registers?

Yes thank you, bnfw, just tested!! Thanks for checking. ??

    Thanks BNFW

More than happy to provide a review once I have everything out of test phase and operating smoothly.:)

I’ve just completed another test purchase from Clickfunnels that was sent in a zap to Learndash. The email that I modified with BNFW was sent out as had I set it up… just one thing was not looking right.

The title for the email is: (sender) Your User Name and Password Info

The sender (in brackets) should be showing as Aiyana ‘Ukulele, however it’s showing as [Aiyana 'Ukulele].

Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

    TIA!

    Hi @aiyana22,
Can you post here what the subject of your BNFW notification is vs what you’re seeing?

    (@aiyana22)

I’ve edited the email for New User Registration – for email. The subject is showing as:
global_site_title Your username and password info
When I receive the test email, the email title is showing as:
[Aiyana 'Ukulele] Your username and password info

My site title should be Aiyana ‘Ukulele. This is how it appears in General Settings. Could the apostrophe before the U be creating the problem?

    Thread Starter aiyana22

    (@aiyana22)

Ok… when I am sending my messages, the code is actually showing correctly… to explain, in the email title, it is showing as Aiyana (followed by a space, then 'Ukulele] Your username and password info

For some reason, the apostrophe is showing as code, I think, in teh email…

    (@aiyana22)

still changing… between Aiyana and Ukulele there is (in this order:
    space
    &
    #
    039
    ;

Hopefully this doesn’t change again when I submit!

    Hi @aiyana22,
Ok, so in that case I would do one of the following:

    • Don’t use a shortcode in the subject and instead manually input the name of your site.
    • Change the name of your site so that it doesn’t include the apostrophe.

I haven’t seen any issues with non alpha-numeric characters before in BNFW’s subject but I think one of the two options above is the best way around it for you for now.

    Thanks

Yes, I was wondering if I’d have to do the 2nd option. I actually didn’t enter the shortcode, I just typed it in with the apostrophe….

The interesting thing is when I receive Worpress notifications of new users, they come through with my site name as it should be with the apostrophe…

    Hi @aiyana22,
I can investigate to see if there’s a bug. I think this came up before but was fixed in a release a long time ago.

Thank you. In the meantime, I have removed the apostrophe, but would be great to have it there.
