    Hello Guys
    We have been using better messages on our site for a month now. I particularly like the fact that it integrates with Ultimate Member plugin which we have installed for managing profiles of clients and subscribers (freelancers). Of late, Better Messages has been taking at least 5 minutes to load. For instance when you want to access a different message thread between you and another user, you literally have to wait for a long time for that to happen (at least 5 minutes). It isn’t an issue of connectivity because every other aspect of the site is loading pretty quick. To me, it appear that the plugin is not light enough (it’s somewhat heavy and that makes it load for longer than usual). Anyone experiencing this with Better Messages? And how can the problem be fixed, if at all? Or do we need a different private messaging plugin for communications between site subscribers? If so, which plugin do you recommend? (It should be able to load conversation faster)

    No idea what can be issue for you.
    Probably you have really bad host or some other issue.

    In the fact there is a lot of websites with millions of messages and working fast, so this is something at your side.

    Thanks for the feedback. Will try checking the issue with query monitor plugin. However, while I do that, you guys should also consider editing the code so that Better Messages is much lighter and loads faster. It takes quite some minutes to load messages while you try jumping from one thread to the next. Please work on that….
    Really love your plugin, especially because it integrates with Ultimate Member. Keep improving it!!

    These are other issues you also need to work on to make the app work better:
    – Notification sound: works once in a while. Mostly you’ll hear the new message notification sound when you click on a particular message or thread. Otherwise, you won’t hear it at all. In fact, if you happen to open another tab, window or browser, now you won’t get the notification sound at all.
    – New message: Unless you manually refresh the page, you won’t be notified of new chat messages unless it’s from the person you are currently chatting with. In fact you might think no one else is sending you chat messages until you refresh the page manually (then you’ll hear the notification sound once and when you check you see that 10-15 people had sent you messages many minutes ago but you weren’t notified).
    – Refresh time: Better messages take unusually long to refresh. The chat threads are not refreshed automatically despite setting them and the site to refresh in 1 minute (from the settings).
    on our site, the plugin is used to chat and share files only. We have been seeing this problem ever since we started using it. It’s been integrated with Ultimate Member Plugin (could this be the issue? I don’t think because UM itself is loading pretty fast and working okay). Just channel these issues to the developers to fix. Stop saying it’s working alright and that the issue is with our site. The problem is with the BM plugin. We are also using crisp and its working perfectly well.

    Hi there!

    Please provide the exact issue why the plugin takes long to load, then we talk, now we are talking about nothing, all other users (I personally know more then 200 websites) not have any issues with performance.

    Also the things that you described besides performance are not correct, there is notifications when you are not in the chat page. Probably you have some issue at your website which you don’t know.

    The notifications sound is always trying to be played, but browser has some limitations which not allow to play it before you interacted with page.

    Comparing it to crisp is not correct also, since it’s not running at your website and not affected by your website issues .
