Hi all, I can no longer use the bcct tweet plugin for some reason. There’s no birdie to click, and I messed up the code trying to figure out how to do it manually. Is it still in general use? Thanks as always, Sally

OK I got it working with the code however should I be seeing the birdie? WP up to date and plugin too. Thanks!

    Hey @sally-oreilly

I was out of town on vacation last week, and am just now seeing this.

I checked your blog and I am seeing this format for the shortcode:

[bcct="The idea of social contagion, modelling, mimicry."]

The proper format is [bctt tweet="The idea of social contagion, modelling, mimicry."]

That should resolve things. Please link me to a page where you are not seeing a birdie, and I’m happy to help!

    Thanks so much Ben!
I’ve done that and yes of course that worked – thanks. So the page where there’s no birdie is that page and all the other posts too. Has it just moved I wonder?
Also, how do I change what words that appear as Click to tweet? iIke for example – if I want to ay “Tweet to a colleague” for example?

Or, I guess, when I find the birdie this will all be self explanatory the way it used to be?
    Thanks again,
    Sally

    Hey @sally-oreilly

I am seeing a birdie on that post: https://www.betterclicktotweet.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Screen-Shot-2021-10-01-at-4.05.36-PM.png

Can you clarify what you mean, there?

As for changing the words, you can use the prompt shortcode attribute.

[bctt tweet="The idea of social contagion, modelling, mimicry." prompt="Tweet To A Colleague"] will do what you are looking for.

    Thanks!

    Hi again!
OK sorry, to clarify: what I meant was in the WP editor, I can’t see the birdie in the tool bar where it sued to be. Can you? Has it moved? Or must we manually put in the short code now? Thanks again!

And thanks for the prompt thing – I just couldn’t remember!!

    Hey @sally-oreilly

I am still seeing the birdie on the classic editor on my test site, and there’s a bunch of possibilities for what might be causing that issue on your site, depending on which editor you are using.

If, for example, you are using the new block editor and the classic editor block, it won’t display the birdie there.

I also recommend using the block editor, because Better Click To Tweet has a block that makes configurations very simple.

    Thanks!

    (@sally-oreilly)

OH WOW! I did not ever see that! Thank you. So in the block, which is the one I use, yes, how can I change the prompt?

Sorry – ignore last – i can see you’ve laid it all out super easy in the side bar Thanks so much! Sally
