Since this plugin upgraded from version 8 to version 9 recently the Word beta has been part of the version numbering.

This would seem to indicate that the beta branch of the plugin is now the active branch.

Normally installing beta versions of anything on a live site is a big no no, so what is the case here?

Did you forget to rename it or are we now all using a less stable beta version on our sites? If the latter is the case that doesn’t really instill confidence in me as we are using this plugin on various client websites.

Also, I would imagine new users now refraining from using your plugin seeing the beta part in the version numbering.

    Can you please clarify?

    Many thanks in advance.

Given my development experience in the past I did not feel confident enough to call is stable. I do not have a supply of thousands of beta testers. I had a few people testing the plugin because I asked in admin messages but, there was never a really long supply of feedback. But I have LOTS of automated tests written for the plugin …

Also, there is always something unexpected coming up when releasing it to thousands of users anyway. No matter how much you test and plan for it.

And I was right, after I released this the issues come flying in but that as many as I feared. I even included a message in the plugin how to roll back in case of serious issues. If everyone says “no no” to it then it will never be ready.

So no, not a mistake. I just removed the beta from the latest pro version and probably remove it soon from the main plugin.
