Best way to track/display/publish a road trip?

I am looking for a way to track a roadtrip on a google map embedded on a page of my site that I can update as the roadtrip continues with text, image, and/or video content.

I imagine that if a piece of content is geotagged in some way then that can serve as the way the trip is tracked.

If there’s a way that graphics could be customizable that would be ideal.

I don’t know if all of this (or any of this at all) is possible, let alone to what extent, so any insight/advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
