Best way to replace built-in comments with Facebook ones?

, but if you want to allow people to sign in via facebook to add a comment, the Disqus plugin offers that as a feature, as well as many other logins (openID, Twitter, etc).

If you don’t mean this, I would suggest more clearly explaining what you mean by “replace WP built in comments with Facebook”, maybe with a link to the website you want to activate it on.

Thank you for your answer. What I mean is, that WordPress uses its own built in commenting system allowing users to leave comments to post.

However since most of us are using Facebook, it makes sense to integrate the two. What I’m looking for is a solution allowing users of Facebook leaving comments to blog posts with an option, that also posts the left comment as a shared item on the users Facebook wall.

There is a similar solution by WP Facebook by Upthemes, but it doesnt run as it generates an error (WordPress 3.0).

Well, then as far as I know, Simple Facebook Connect is your best way to go.

If there’s something you want to do with Facebook and it’s possible, SFC will have it. It has so many options it can choke you. I use it for the ‘like’ button on my site (sample), and plan to active more of it as I find time.

On the other side, Disqus uses facebook logins (and others as mentioned), but if you really want to exploit F’book, go with SFC.

Disclaimer: I’m no pro coder, so no guarantee it’s a final solution. Also, since some things are called via facebook, do make sure to check they don’t cripple your pageload time.

Sorry, to clarify on Disqus: When disqus is used, I believe it posts what the user commented onto thier profile.

In fact (as far as I can tell), most facebook-related plugins should show activity a user does on your site on thier facebook page. That’s part of the whole game of Facebook.

I get what you mean – show your photos with the FB comments underneath.

I’m not sure FB provide an API to actually fetch those comments to your own site – just the images – as Fotobook and FB Photo Fetcher do.

If I’m wrong about this, someone let me know!
