    Help me figure this out!
At the moment we have a Woocommerce / Elementor Pro-built B2C webshop.
Now we want to also start selling B2B.
Ideally we would have a user login protected “partnerportal” for our wholesale customers. A start page with Login for registered wholesale customers and an apply form for want-to-be wholesale customers. Inside the portal would be a wholesale Shop page (table?), A library with approved images and copy for them to download, a terms and conditions page, info and contact page and a “My Account”-page.
Since we want the portal hidden from the public eye, we don’t care about SEO for the portal.

What would the best, easiest, least expensive approach be?

    1. Can we have a user login protected “portal” on the current domain with a Second shop page for wholesale?
    2. Can we set up a portal on a subdomain and use our current plugin licenses? Is this only possible with multisite?
    3. Do we have to set this up on a separate domain, building everything from scratch, buying new licenses for plugins etc?
    4. Other solutions??

    All suggestions are appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hello Majken,

Thank you for reaching out to the WooCommerce forum.

Best way to add separate B2B shop?

Your inquiry about setting up a B2B portal alongside your existing B2C WooCommerce/Elementor Pro-built webshop is quite detailed and I appreciate your thoroughness. Here are some possible solutions to your questions:

    1. User Login Protected Portal on Current Domain: Yes, you can have a user login protected portal on your current domain. This can be done using a combination of WooCommerce’s User Role and Membership plugins. The User Role plugin allows you to create a new user role (e.g. ‘Wholesale Customer’) with specific capabilities, while the Membership plugin can restrict content to these specific user roles. You can then create a second shop page for your wholesale customers by using the WooCommerce Product Tables plugin.
    2. Portal on a Subdomain: Yes, you can set up a portal on a subdomain and use your current plugin licenses. However, this depends on the terms of your plugin licenses. Most premium plugins allow usage on multiple sites, but you should check the terms of each plugin. This can be done without a multisite, but if you plan to manage multiple sites, a multisite setup might be more efficient.
    3. Separate Domain: This is not necessary unless you want to completely separate your B2B and B2C operations. If you go down this route, you would need to purchase new licenses for your plugins and build everything from scratch.
    4. Other Solutions: You could consider a WordPress multisite network. This allows you to create a network of sites using a single WordPress installation. This way, you can manage multiple sites from one dashboard, share themes and plugins across sites, and more.

If you want to keep things simple and cost-effective, I’d recommend going with the first option. However, if you foresee your B2B operations growing significantly, it might be worth investing in a separate domain or a multisite network.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Mirko, thank you so much for your detailed answer! Very appreciated!
We will have a go at option #1 – setting the portal up on our current domain. I will most likely have more question during setting up but regarding clarification of the options to set it up I am very content.

That’s great to hear @jagmajken! Thanks for letting us know. We’re happy to help, so please feel free to reach out to us again if you have any other questions.
