I need to build a coming soon homepage that would take only emails from users so they can be notified when site is ready.
I want to build it by myself, but not sure what are the best practices.

    Should I:
    1. create a new emails table in DB?
    2. create a new user role and store only the email?
    3. create an email custom post type?

Any insights would be helpful ??

  • Hi,

Nothing. If you wanna collect emails then I’ll recommend you to not do any of it and use a third-party service such as MailChimp.com for it. There if you later need, you can just export all the emails to an excel file.

    Hope that helps. ??

Agree with Hardeep, a free account with MailChimp is a better way to do it. No point building it yourself.

MailChimp gives you really nice looking signup forms to put on the website. It’s also good for sending bulk emails.

Agree with Hardeep and Jason – choose an autoresponder and get it done with them. I’ve not used Mailchimp, I use Aweber, but that’s not free!

    Thanks all!
    I went with MailChimp.
