Best Twitter Plugin per requirements

  • Hi..

    I’m hoping the community can give me some recommendations. I’m looking for a twitter plugin that will take our posts and automatically tweet them on our Twitter account. The one exception is that I DONT want it to do it to every post.. I want a way ( either through a tag, or a special button ) that will only send posts to twitter that we want.

    As an example, on a given day, we might post 7 articles, but we only want 4 of them to be sent as a status update to our Twitter account. So, maybe by adding a special tag to the post, or having a “Tweet this” button on the post page it will know to send it.

    I’d also like it if it would include a shortened URL back to our WordPress site with the tweet.

    I really appreciate any help / suggestions people can make / give! ??

  • I’m a huge fan of Twitter Tools.

    You can set the default to be “yes, send to my twitter account” and then you can simply select “no” when you don’t want to send that specific post.

    Oh, also, it includes a Bitly widget that let’s you convert your links to bitly short URLs.

    Well.. Unfortunately, I cant get Twitter Tools to post to Twitter. It seems others out there is having the same problem and their questions are not getting answers. I’m thinking that maybe the plugin has been abandoned by the Author(s).

    Is there a next best plugin per my requirements?? Would be great to hear from anyone that has an opinion on the it ??

    I wanted to post a reply in case others find themselves in the same boat as me…

    Twitter Tools seems to be abandoned. So in my research, STC ( Simple Twitter Connect ) was a GREAT fit for me. Otto, the author of the plugin, was EXTREMELY helpful with me. Answered all my questions and got back to me quickly.

    STC coupled with WP-Bitly plugin was the PERFECT solution ??
