I’ve been trying to get the plugin to work the way I want it, but even with the documentation, I feel I don’t get a grip on it.

Something is not clear to me:
    – Does the free version always anonymize IPs?

I unticked the box that asks if ip addresses are blocked, but I still can’t seem to filter my own IP-address in Google Analytics. I am using Tag Manager.

    Regards,
    Michael

    Hi @concatenate,

Complianz only anonimizes IP if you tick the box in the wizard. If you tick all three boxes related to Google Analytics, Complianz does not block the script before consent is given. If you do not tick the three boxes, the Analytics script (and Tag Manager) is blocked before consent. If you insert your UA code via the Complianz wizard, it is placed after consent is given.

Did you accept cookies and implemented your UA code via the Complianz wizard?

Please let us know if this solves your problem. If not we’d be happy to take a closer look at your configuration.

    Regards,
    Leon

    Hi @concatenate,

When using Tag Manager for Analytics. You can add the Tag Manager code in Complianz, with the checks enabled for GDPR compliance.

After, you can keep Google Analytics triggered on “All Pages” or “cmplz_event_functional” as a custom event for analytics.

You will need to add a new field called anonymize_ip and set it to true. This article will tell you all you need to know:

    https://complianz.io/configuring-categories-for-tag-manager/

    Hope this helps,

    regards Aert

    Hi @leonwimmenhoeve and @aahulsebos,

I did not tick the box to anonymize IPs and I did not add a field to Tag Manager.

However, currently, if I choose functional cookies, analytics shows no visit (which is expected, I think) but when I choose all cookies, my visit ends up in both views that I have in analytics: the custom one for all visits and the view that filters my IP address.

And I don’t expect that, since I did not add the anonymize_ip field nor did I tick the box.

    Hi @concatenate, Michael,

Could you do an export of your settings (under settings) and send it to complianz.io/support. We will have a look at how it is configured.

    Let me know!
    regards Aert
