Best practices for updating "Tested up to" tag in readme.txt

  • Hello all,

    I want to note on my company’s plugin page that it has been tested up to 3.4 Beta 2. This brings up two questions:

    1. What is the correct format in the readme.txt file for expressing the beta?
    Tested up to: 3.4.1 Beta 2
    or
    Tested up to: 3.4.1b2
    or…?

    2. Nothing has changed in the plugin itself (nothing was broken between 3.3.1 and 3.4b2). Thus, I don’t want to trigger an official “update” since there’s no need for an update. To avoid this, what do I do? Surely I don’t modify the readme.txt in the currently tagged version… or do I?
