Best practice to download theme sample content files to a copy of site

I’m working on a site from a theme template and I used some of the sample content pages but unthinking deleted terms & policy sample pages. The theme has a one-click sample content downloader plugin but I don’t want to maybe ruin what I have worked on so far.

I’m thinking of copying the site to either a local installation of WP or a subdomain on my hosting service (including database copy) and use that to copy any specific theme pages I may want to use.

I’d ask the specific theme support, but it expired and I’d like to save the $50 to update support for this general kind of help.

I just want to do this the most efficient and safe way possible. Any tips please?
