Best Plug in for Blog within a page

Hi Guys,

I am looking to put a blog except onto the front page — static page. Is there a plugin that can do that. I just want to show the latest post on the homepage. I have seen several themes have shortcodes to do this, but was not sure if there was a plugin that could do the same thing. I did some searches, but didn’t have much luck.
