I spent days and days looking for a membership plugin for my website. I would install a plugin, take a while to learn how to use it, and then find out that the feature I wanted to use was only available in the ‘pro’ versions so many of the free plugins have. The plugins would also create their own entry in the admin bar, which annoys me and documentation would sometimes (although not always) be limited. When any support was asked, such as how to customise a form for example, you would be told to use another plugin, blah blah.

WP-Members is not like the above. As soon as I installed it I knew I would like it as, it quietly, quickly, and simply installs itself in the settings section of the admin bar. When you visit the plugin settings all the options are nicely laid out in tabs, with all options very clear on what they do. Documentation is great, from the ‘start up’ beginners guide, and feature-packed discussions of all the pages, and what each option does. I was starting to create my own membership site in minutes.

What I really liked was the addition of a new drop-down menu in the editor to allow to choose a whole heap of shortcodes, quickly. You want a login form? Click here, shortcode inserted. Login with redirect, ok try this, plus many more options, all for other pages as well such as registration, logged in content, logout links etc.

A load of options of included for free, unlike some other plugins and you could just make do with the free version very happily indeed. However I decided I was so happy with the plugin I would pay the very reasonable price to get the pro version. Lots of incredibly useful addons were now available, which once again, simply install as new tabs in the settings page, giving you more options to play with. The addons are great!

There then is the support of the forum and the author Chad. He is very quick to reply to your questions, customisation requests and so on. Even questions which require complex answers with PHP and CSS, he provides them for you, and tells you what to do in simple terms.

There are a couple of features I would like added, such as the ability to send renewal reminders after expiry for example. But these are small issues, which I’m sure will be addressed in future updates.

If you are looking for a membership plugin, I say go no further. I even registered here just to post this review ?? And no, I don’t know the author, I’m just really pleased with the plugin and Chads support. Keep up the good work!
