• Everyone should use SMTP2Go and this plug-in to get a WordPress installation to send emails. I tried PostSMTP Mailer/Email Log, WP Mail SMTP by WPForms, SendInBlue, and Amazon SES. The services were difficult to set up, I had to jump hoops just to get denied (thanks Amazon SES and SendInBlue) and the plugins also wanted payment.

With SMTP2Go, it’s easy to set up an account, easy to verify the single sender or sender domain, and easy to configure the plug-in. Create an API key at the SMTP2Go website under Settings > API Keys. Name each API key to keep track of it. Limit the API to only Emails, Statistics, Sender Domain > /domain/view, and Sender Domain > /domain/verify. I also set a rate limit to prevent a stolen API key from being used for spam. It really isn’t as hard as it sounds. Cut and paste the API key into the plugin and you are done.

SMTP2Go will allow you to send email as any user on a domain if you post three CNAME records on the domains’ DNS to prove ownership. The CNAME records are also used to configure SPF/DKIM. Overall, SMTP2Go is a great service, and this plugin should be a lot more popular than it is!
