My opinion may differ from yours. Just google for “wordpress magazine themes” and browse the selections. Darren Hoyt’s Mimbo is very easy to customize.
I think Revolution would be very good since it is so popular. But you can search around yahoo. A lot of wonderful themes are there. For one, Themeplayground.com
when i was helping some friends to make a small magazine i was excited bythe look of “the morning after” but also dissapointed cause it wasnt widget ready so i jumped on “mimbo” which is super-easy to customize. Now i ve seen that “the morning after” is -finally- widget ready. Worth to take a look at both of these themes…
Of course, you could always check out my Options theme or Structure theme, both of which have been under heavy development for months with a lot of user feedback. Also, there are full support forums set up for helping users.
Other than that, as some have mentioned, Mimbo is one of the better ones. I’ve never been a huge fan of The Morning After, but a lot of people like it.
Most any other magazine themes that are decent (from what I’ve seen) are pay-for-use themes.
we have a wordpress theme (Majapahit) designed with magazine/newspaper style, with 4 columns and 6 expandable categories newsbox. loved to hear your comments on our work, and it’s released for free anyway.
we put it in Tobacamp
Revolution Pro is probably the most popular, by far. I am sure a quick search around will find you the best themes. You could always consider our wordpress magazine theme Magatheme, we’re always appreciative of any feedback.
I am trying to use Grungzine on a new site, but am getting an error (www.yourcrimesite.com) If I can figure that out, I think I’ll really like it, too.
