Best Lightbox?

  • Is Lightbox 2 considered the best lightbox? I want a good mix between load time and look. Also, does anyone know how you get a link in the title of each lightbox image?

  • Maybe seems to be a simple and stupid question but actually I am wondering that too. I have two blogs and can not get it to work full properly at any of them. One of them running K2 and the other Emerson. Both on WP 2.1.3.

    I have had no problem with the standard lightbox 2. I’ve tested out others that tell you they are better, but they aren’t. they draw you in with lines like “lighter install” or “faster”, etc. So far, lightbox 2 seems to be the best.

    There is a very good alternative to lightbox 2: slimbox.

    It is 100% compatible with lightbox tags (no change to your code), but it is much lighter. Instead of loading 125 KB of scripts and CSS, it loads 22 KB. So your page appears much faster.
    Instead of loading useless javascript library functions, it loads only what it needs.

    very interesting. is there a lightbox version that is screen reader friendly? i want to make my site as accessible as i can. thanks for the info.
