Yes the landscape is constantly changing so it’s good to keep in touch with the community. I’d for sure checkout the meetups if you’re trying to jump back into the swing of WordPress development and best practices.
Email can be tricky but I always look at it like this. When someone unsubscribes they’re doing me a favor. They were receiving any value and now my analytics will look better because there is one less unengaged subscriber.
Just try to give give give and you should see a nice response from your email following. It’s just one of those things that will grow over time as you gain more trust from your subscribers you’ll shed less subscribers if you keep the value high.
