Being told failed update for plugins not installed

  • Hey everyone,

    I’m getting emails for plugins that I used to have on my site but deleted weeks ago. The emails are telling me that WordPress has tried to update them, but the update has failed. Hoping to understand what the problem is and how to remove this notification, or if these plugins are still on WordPress hiding somewhere.

    Thoughts?

  • Have you really uninstalled them or just deactivated them?

    If they are really deleted, could the emails come from another WordPress installation, possibly from a staging or development system? The URL mentioned in the e-mail should provide information about this.

    There are definitely not installed. The only difference that might be happening in the URL is http vs https.

    Also a protocol difference in http vs. https can lead to different installations. Take a close look at your hosting.
