• Hi,

I’ve got a question/request about the behaviour of the product quantity selection. Standard the quantity is set to 1, which is great of course because most people are only buying 1 item of a product.

If someone is willing to buy 2 or more of a product, they will click/hit the quantity box (if not using the arrows of course). Now if they need 2 pieces of an item, they will click/hit 2. But because the amount of 1 is still there, if someone isn’t fully focussed, they will end up with 12 items in their cart. Is it possible to make it such that when someone hits/clicks the quantity box, the standard amount of 1 disappears and only the new value is entered instead of added after the ‘1’?

(I’m not sure if this is template behaviour or standard woocommerce behaviour. Of course if it’s the latter, I should probably ask this on the WooCommerce support)

    Thanks,

    Neal

    Hi there,
yes this is a standard and usability WooCommerce behaviour.
I’ll try to explain you why.
Imagine that you have insered that you want to buy 7 pieces of that item… you click, the input go blank and you type 7.
After that you start hanging around the page reading some important product features… You click again on the product picture to zoom it, or you click to open an ipotetical faq toggle… then you think you don’t want to buy 7 items but 9.
You click again the input field and it went black losing your previous insered quantity. This is something you don’t want to happen because you may forget what was your previous insered quantity that you needed to use as reference in example (maybe my example is too much easy, but if you elaborate it a bit you can imagine it).

So for this reason, what you need can’t be deployed as a standard behaviour. Is something specific for your needs, a customization.
