• I am a beginner wordpress user. So far, I have been just playing around with WordPress on a local instalation using Local by Firewire on. my laptop.

I am a bit confiused about themes. My understanding was that a theme defined the styling of website but should not contain any content, but many themes seem to come with demo content, e.g. excepps from Lorum Ipsum.

Supose I set up some pages using a theme, when I change the theme to TwentyTwentyFour, for example, it adds all this extra content, which I them have to delete. I. unsterstand the content is just to helpo visualise what the theme looks like, but is there a way to install it without the extra content.

Should I start with a blank website, install the theme, then manually delete all the content and same the thema as a new thehmem. I think this would be a problem whenever I need to update the theme.

Is this extra content a design flaw or is there something I am missing about how to change themes.

    Thanks, Glenn

  • Hi @glennfulford,

I have a suggestion for you. you can start to blank the theme. because when we start with a blank theme every setting gets it and you can also try to install the theme without dummy data or any demo import.

thanks, I thought about that. But what happens when there is an update to the theme, do I have to go through the process of blacking out the theme again?

Whether you need to “black out” or redo customizations after a theme update depends on how you’ve implemented those customizations and the update mechanism of the theme. Using child themes or theme options can minimize the need to redo work after updates. Always check the documentation or support resources provided with your theme for specific instructions on handling updates.
