Beginner installing WP with 1and1 hosting

  • I’ve downloaded.Unzipped.Edited Config.php in word pad… The 5 min instal guide says to ‘upload’ Do I upload the Config doc to my Database in 1and1 or the whole WP file?

    I’m teaching myself all this stuff…started yesterday.

    Do not edit wp-config.php in anything other than a plain text editor such as NotePad.

    Error when opening Instal.Php reads:
    Error: PHP is not running

    WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

    Did you check the minimum hosting requirements?

    1and1 has php5 and the smysql version is 5.0 not sure if thats what i need… im guessing yes? im a total beginner here…learning ….

    Contact your hosts and send them a copy of your error message. Perhaps you need to turn PHP on.

    You upload all the WordPress files (including the edited config file) to the root of your web server (not to the Database, which is on a different server). You have to upload all the files before you can run the install.
