Before Install – Creds Encrypted?

Hello All,
Before I move over from WP-Mail SMTP plugin, does this plugin encrypt credentials to the smtp server or does it send it in plain text? Plan is to use TLS offsite with SMTP authentication on a specific port. Thanks!
