You can remove the search option at the top of the calendar. Under Events –> Settings –> Display you can check the ‘Disable the Event Search Bar’ option.
The colors of the calendar and influenced by your theme. You can try changing the Stylesheet (again under Events –> Settings –> Display). If that doesn’t get you want you want, you’ll likely need to dig into the code a bit to get the colors set exactly how you want them.
