There’s loads of before/after plugins around but is there one that does all this:

When inserting images, allows you to select image sizes other than full size
    AND
Works as a Gutenberg block ie no shortcodes
    AND
Does not require me to install a shed load of other blocks just to get the slider
    AND
Does not come as part of a page builder package

    Any recommendations? Thanks!

    Ha ha! I doubt it.
I was writing one kind of like that (before the block editor existed), and I got sidetracked doing other things. The trick with the image sizes is making it work on all devices, but also what it should look like if the images are different sizes.

Thanks Joy, I’m beginning to realise I’m on a fool’s errand with this one!

I wanted to compare an image in both colour then in monochrome and a slider seemed a neat way of doing that.

My fall back is a responsive gallery of 2 images with a nice fading transition. There’s still the problem of different image sizes to deal with but the Advanced Gallery from Kadence Blocks (other blocks are available…) gives me the ability to choose an aspect ratio for the slide/gallery container. I could see that working for a before/after slider but there’s an awful lot of work for an edge case block.

    thanks again
    Nick
