• Be careful when Syncing Mailchimp account to Woocommerce. We thought it would Sync my mail chimp subscribers to woocommerce but it works the other way around and linked 25000 customers to mail chimp and then we subsequently got billed over $500 of addons for one days worth of additional customers. We deleted them as soon as we realised.

The functions within the plugin may be wonderful, but you can’t avoid uploading all of your customers so if you need to do cost effective mail marketing this isn’t the plugin for you.

Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to reply. We take all feedback seriously and appreciate the members who voice them; however, the plugin is not advertised to sync customers from Mailchimp to your WooCommerce store. As noted, it’s quite the opposite for good reasons.

We’ve engineered the plugin to sync customer data to Mailchimp so you can make the best use of that data and give you everything you need to be successful with your marketing efforts. Without comprehensive customer data to work within Mailchimp, frankly, we wouldn’t be doing our job here at the plugin team.

We apologize for any surprises from a billing standpoint. It was not our goal to inflate your bill for the reasons noted. It may be worthwhile to voice your concerns directly with the Mailchimp support group. We’ll be glad to give them a heads up if you post your store URL.

Finally, we would welcome any updates to the review to reflect your experience with what the plugin is designed to do.

The wording on the Plugin where you click to sync says ‘Link Audience With Store’, in Mailchimp every subscriber is classed as your ‘Audience’. My customers in my Woocommerce store are my customers and become my Audience when they are turned into Subscribers.

Hence the interpretation I had was that it would link my Mailchimp Audience to my store. Not upload my store customers to my Mail Chimp Audience and then charge me $500. If the wording was the other way around and said turn your customers into your Audience I wouldn’t have clicked sync.

As an improvement this definition should on the plugin should be changed to inform the user that all of their customers from Woocommerce will be uploaded and turned into their Audience and there is a potential for additional costs.

I think what the plugin can do is really very good, but for a small business like ours we cannot afford a shock $500 bill.
