I used Beaver Builder a couple of years ago to create a landing page, and it worked very well. In fact, I’m still using that same landing page without any problems. But today I tried to use Beaver Builder to create another landing page on the same website, but this time, Beaver Builder wouldn’t work.

Here’s what happened: I created a new page. I clicked the Beaver Builder tab. But instead of seeing a button that says “Launch Beaver Builder,” I was taken to a screen that said, “Drop a row layout or module to get started.” Unfortunately, Beaver Builder failed to produce a Beaver Builder toolbar or any other tools (such as modules or rows) with which to build the page. All I got was a

Here’s what I tried to do to fix the problem, without success:

    1. I deactivated my other plugins.
    2. I switched to the Twenty Sixteen Theme.
    3. I made sure I’m using the latest version of everything (WordPress, Beaver Builder, etc.)
    4. I noticed that if I typed something into the page’s Visual Window (even just a word or two) and then clicked Beaver Builder tab, tools would show up. But when I clicked on the tools, I just got a spinning circle that never stopped. Consequently, I wasn’t able to use the tools.
    5. I tried using Beaver Builder on my website that’s online, and I also tried using Beaver Builder on my localhost test site, but Beaver Builder failed to work on either site.
    6. I tried using a different browser (Safari instead of my usual Chrome) without success.

Any idea what might be wrong and how I might fix it?

    Thanks!

    Hey @clocksaysnow,

    Thanks for posting!

Pretty hard to tell what’s causing the issue if you’ve gone through the plugin deactivation route already. We may need to dig deeper.

Can you send us a note via the form below(General Inquiry) and we’ll take it from there? ??

You can include a link to this thread so you don’t have to repeat everything and we can keep it updated.

    Hi Ben,

I figured out the problem. Beaver Builder plugin is clashing with another plugin: WP Retina 2X. When I activate WP Retina 2X, Beaver Builder doesn’t work. When I deactivate WP Retina 2X, Beaver Builder works fine. On my earlier test, wouldn’t you know that WP Retina 2x was the one plugin I hadn’t deactivated, figuring that I’d need it to make the images on my layout look crisp?

But by deactivating WP Retina 2x, I can successfully use Beaver Builder to create the layout. Once the layout is done, I can reactivate WP Retina 2X, and the layout that I created with Beaver Builder still looks good. (But if I want to modify the layout, I need to deactivate WP Retina 2X again, temporarily, until I’ve completed those modifications.) So long as I use that workaround, the problem is solved. But if, in the future, Beaver Builder can be made to work with WP Retina 2x, that would be nice.

    Thanks!

    Hey @clocksaysnow,

That’s really good to hear! And thanks for taking the time to inform us. ??

I have just now installed the latest version of the WP Retina 2x plugin and the builder is working just fine on my local install. The problem is most likely isolated to your site, perhaps it has something to do with the theme you’re using or the server it’s sitting on.
