  • How about getting it to work? Page doesn’t load!

    looks like a template job

the margins in the left side boxes under the big pic are too small, which looks awkward

    To many code errors.
I don’t care for the red headings and read more content being jammed into such a tiny space. It could use some padding.
It probably would look better without the borders on the boxes.

great jolly – I’d only remove the borders of each script box and the sections on the right…looks good and will help you to promote your business…I hope you have the email address coming from the site e.g. [email protected]

Now that the site works, here are some initial thoughts:

    1. Increase margins in the image slider so the text doesn’t stick out beyond where the images are.

    2. Change ‘blogroll’ to something else, like ‘links’ or ‘related links’. You’re using this as a CMS, not a blog, right?

    3. Hide Admin functions if you can.

    4. Gallery is probably the most important category (other than your call to action w/ contact info). Make sure you start adding content in that area soon.

    5. Make the search box smaller so that the button fits to the right of the field instead of dropping it down.

    6. Remove pages section from home page since it’s redundant (top nav).

It seems to load slower than other sites, don’t know what’s causing that.

Yea I’d remove the meta links as well, especially since you already have a log-in button in the footer. Personally I’d remove everything from that side of the homepage except for maybe the search. You should get the contact form 7 plugin and put a quick contact form in place of that stuff as well as on the contact page. It’s always good to have a quick and easy way for customers to contact you on the front page if possible, so people can do it on impulse. Quite a few will visit the site and just want to fill that out real quick with some questions or to get a quote, and not bother looking at anything else. Anyone can have a nice looking site but fast and friendly customer service is what makes sales. The other contact info and links that you think you need to keep from the homepage could go in a footer or something.

Also you might want to modify that javascript slideshow to react much faster when clicked.

Why do you have 2 navigation place? You should remove either the top nav or the side nav. Other then that if this is a business why do you have such a dark color scheme? Keeping things bright makes people feel warm and welcomed. Just a thought.

I lose the “Building backyard decks one yard at a time” because of the color choice. Could you choose a brighter color for this tag line to jump out a bit more?

I think a brighter, more cheery color would be better. It is professional looking.
