• Hey everyone,

I have been running a wordpress mu site and have been meaning to add a forum to the site for some time now. I don’t know whether to start developing my own forum plugin or try integrating bbpress into my site.

I just have a few questions before I set off.

    – How well do bbpress and wordpress integrate?
    – Is it easy to setup the forum to appear on wordpress pages?
    – Is the bbpress admin integrated with wordpress admin (IE a tab in the wordpress admin page)?
    – I know bbpress and wordpress can share user tables, so if a user is logged into wordpress will they be logged into the forum as well?
    – Can bbpress work with wordpress mu?
    – Can bbpress and wordpress share themes?
    – I’m sure it is but is this forum running on bbpress?

Any help or thoughts/opinion would be great,

Ps, I can login to the bbpress.org forum with my www.remarpro.com username and password… ?? very cool.

    Thanks,
    Levi

  • It’s six months later, and this is the first response to your question?

Anyway, I looked into bbPress, there’s no real integration with WordPress. Oh, it does have user table integration, but other than that it’s a completely separate entity, which is not what I wanted.

I want a forum plugin, so I’m using Simple Forum. It’s not open source, though, so when the author loses interest, it will stop being updated.

So I’m going to look into integrating bbPress as a plugin.
