Batch Import Sometimes Working Sometimes Not

When I first started using this plug in (yesterday), it was able to download about 3000 images (porting an old 2.x installation wiht inline links). After couple runs, it almost completely stopped working.
When I refresh, it shows me which posts are missing. hitting IMport Images mostly does nothing, but sometimes it would process two posts, and then just hang.
Going in to Individual posts is better luck but not always working either.
