I am always baffled why some developers bother uploading their plugins here instead of platforms like themeforest or themetiv.com

This plugin basically comes with 5% free and everything premium. Arghhh

What’s not free about this plugin?

    Has 4 tabs.

    Tab #1 (/wp-admin/admin.php?page=hg_login_settings#general) has 6 sections. 1 is pro

Tab #3 ( /wp-admin/admin.php?page=hg_login_settings#design ) has 7 sections of which only 1 is available in free.

    Tab #4 ( /wp-admin/admin.php?page=hg_login_settings#security ) is entirely premium.

In my opinion it would fair better at a selling marketplace. But that is my opinion

I do disagree that the majority is premium. The bulk of the plugin is the pop-up forms which allow you to modify text, redirects, notifications, and add social media login integration. Those are all part of the free plugin. That being said, some of the more enticing features such as ReCaptcha and user-friendly styling are premium.

For example, the Design tab is 85% premium. There are 7 boxes of design options, 6 of those boxes which are the user-friendly colorpicker boxes are only available in the premium version while the 7th box is available in the free version but is a pure CSS box. This CSS box is no different than the one supplied in The Customizer ( WordPress default ) as far as I can tell. If you do not know CSS you will not have a user-friendly experience updating the login pop-ups colors/styles which by default are blues and greens, not the most neutral colors.

The main plugin banner may be misleading to users as it lists features, and premium features are labelled “PRO”. There are 2 labels: “Style Options” and “Custom CSS Support”. Style Options sound like easy colorpickers and switches but these are locked behind PRO and are not labelled so in the banner. The phrase also plural but 1/7 boxes which is only the Custom CSS box is available for use.

Certainly not trying to invalidate anyone’s opinion on the matter just throwing in my 2 cents. While I do disagree about it mostly being premium, it does what it says it will do but I understand it’s not the most user-friendly to restyle/reskin.

I really would hate to invalidate anyone’s work. However, more and more I feel the freemium model is becoming “premifree” more and more and that cannot be good. In this case unfortunately I feel the focus is turned toward liring in “pro users” than giving the functionality away. It is still their choice, but also mine to view differently.
