Basic usage/configuration questions

  • I’ve read through the forum and didn’t see the questions I have, so it may be intuitively obvious to everyone else…

    Galleries CONTAIN albums, right?

    If so, what I’m looking to do is have a gallery on a page. within that gallery are 1 or more albums, each with a cover image the displays. Each of which has a caption indicating the album subject. User clicks the cover image for an album, and the album displays the set of thumbnails. User clicks a thumbnail to view full-sized images…

    Is this plugin able to do that? If so:
    I have images in a variety of aspect ratios. How do I configure the thumbnails so they maintain the aspect ratio, selecting EITHER the horizontal or vertical dimension as the maximum of the dimension?

    I’m sure I’ll have other questions, but depending on how quickly I get answers to these I can try to use this plugin to get my site up.

    Album covers and pagination in javascript galleries will be added in future updates. I’m working on it.

    Thumbnails with any aspect ratio will fit in gallery with CSS automatically. You should not think about it.

    Thanks for the reply. So do I understand correctly that in the current version I’d create a bunch of galleries, and a bunch of pages to display the galleries – one gallery to a page at present? But in the future, I’ll hopefully be able to create a bunch of galleries and display them on a single page one at a time?

    Ideally, in the future you could see whole Gmedia Library (with publish status only for non logged in users) on one page with search and with list of terms.
