• Where can I find the basics of WordPress?
I do not want a long drawn out explanation of all the little details, just basic navigation and commands.

    Details
This is absurdly difficult to use. I cannot easily find the page I am editing. When I do find it, there is no button to Publish. There is preview but not Publish.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Are you the only person working on the site you’re trying to build? If not, then you may have different permissions that don’t allow you to publish anything.

Also, there’s a very good chance you’re not going to find a quick and dirty explanation of WP, considering how vast it can be/is, and how many moving parts it has. But if you want “simple”:

Thanks for the link, I am working that.
I just created a new site. It is mine and the bluehost people where it resides did the WordPress install. No one has access to the site but me. My personal site is hand edited HTML. I want to create a forum and blog on the new site and aware that will take much more knowledge than I have, hence my first foray into site building tools.

Thanks again for the link and for taking the time to reply.

Edit: Right away there are problems. Click the pages tool per this web page:
    https://www.wpmadesimple.org/guides/editing/
(Note: I don’t see any way to post images here so can only hope I see the same things you see)
I don’t get the dialog shown on that page, the light gray inset that contains fields for: Title, Using this guide, Guides WordPress Basics.
So type things in, make a new page, then find my way back to what I hope will be the home page. In the upper right corner are options to:
Switch to Draft, Preview, Update, Settings, and the vertical ellipsis. There is nothing to click to publish the page.

On the referenced WordPress page there is nothing that looks anything like “Publish” or anything that looks like it leads to the Publish command/button.

If it gives you the option to “Update” that means the page is already published…. as in… you can update the changes you made in a published page.

Pages that are not published will give you the option to save as draft or publish…

Try creating a new page to see if the publish option is there?

    Hello,
I have edited what should be the home page and clicked Update. When I view the site, the next day, the update is not effective. There is no button for Publish. I found it once when just getting started resulting in the page currently residing in the home page position.

What steps must I perform to get the Publish button on my monitor and enabled?
Please, one step at a time from the beginning.
    Thank you.
