    Hi,

    Long time user of the free version of UpdraftPlus plugin here. I have been using the plugin pretty much problem free for the past several years, so this problem seems very odd to me.

    I notice that for the last one week I am not getting the email alert that tells me when a backup job completes – I normally backup the database every day so I generally expect to get at least one daily email. Oddly enough, if I log into the WP admin screen and check the UpdraftPlus plugin page, the backup has in fact run successfully – which I can verify from the log file and by browsing the backup location (Amazon S3).     Emails sent from WordPress are routed through mailgun, so there is almost no chance of the emails getting caught in my spam filter. I did check my spam folder as well though, but no joy.

    Checking the server mail.log, I can see the following output for the last available email sent from UpdraftPlus:

    Does anyone have any idea why Updraftplus might have suddenly stopped sending emails, and how I can fix this?

  • I am encountering the same problem. Backup completes and the log shows email has been sent but nothing arrives. I have another website where it works fine. Both websites are running the latest versions of wordpress and Updraftplus free version, both are provided by the same hosting service. The only difference is that the site that no longer works is an addon (sub) domain. The last email I received from the website that I am no longer receiving email from was on Feb 21, 2017. Nothing since then.

    Hi,

    Please could you reinstall UpdraftPlus from a fresh download, and take a new test backup?

    If the email is still not sent, could you send us a copy of the backup log? This can be found in the Existing Backups tab.
    The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

    I did that shortly after I posted my message and it seems to have fixed the problem for now. Also, my backups are stored on my google drive and last month I reduced the number of days worth of backups to retain and went into the drive via windows file explorer to manually delete some old backup files to free up some space since my last backup failed due to lack of space. I now realize I should have deleted those files via your app as it may have messed up your syncing process.

    Hi @thecoinsguy,

    You can still delete the records of the backups through the Existing Backups tab.
    However, UpdraftPlus will delete the records as normal.

    Apologies – I was travelling and didn’t remember to check the thread.

    So the funny thing is that from earlier this week (5 days ago), I started getting email alerts about the backup jobs again. I have not reinstalled the plugin or made any other changes – about the only thing I can recollect doing is restarting the nginx & PHP-FPM but I had done that before with no change.

    I guess I can mark the issue as Solved, but I’ll admit to being very unsure as as to whether it is really fixed.
