If you ask for GEO location trigger you get answer:

"Plugin users would need to pay for an additional 3rd party integration service to accurately identify customers by their location. If the added cost of integration with a 3rd party geolocation service is acceptable to our plugin user, the development work to integrate with that service can be done relatively quickly (~1 week)."

So many years of development and so many saled of plugin – but most basic needs are still missing. So i finished GEO TRIGGER solution by own custom code. Many other popup solutions already have premade trigger without 3rd party service or any paid custom code.

Do you plan to add this function in future?

@tommy83 – Sorry for the delay, not sure why our response initially didn’t get submitted. We did see this and write a response before.

Glad you worked it out, shows how versatile and easy our plugin is to extend.

Now, what they do is not on par with our reputation and other capabilities. Sure we could slap in a heavy, out of date, database of IPs on their server, but they either now have to disable page caching or we add an Ajax request to the page load to fetch geo data. But that is inaccurate and slow in comparison to highly optimized 3rd party servers which are updated with Geo DB regularly.

Further most still only offer targeting by country code. Our methods would allow targeting by city, zip etc

Lastly reliability. Most hosts for WP nowadays don’t pass the users real IP to the server. In these cases you would not get an accurate location for the visitor.

3rd party request to a server that is built and optimized to get location of user will be reliable, more capable, more accurate, and much faster at fetching location.

So after years of working on this plugin sure we could throw it in sloppily, but it wouldn’t match our reputation. We have done the research and it all says the same thing. Because our plugin will be used on so many different server setups we can’t opt for that.

I’d be happy to have someone make a free addon that installs the Maxmind free dB and adds some conditions.

But it won’t be nearly as good.

    Hope that clarifies.

PS. We have working integrations via a paid extension with:
    – WP Engine Geo Targeting
    – CloudFlare Geo Headers
    – IPStack.com (free up to 10k requests a month).

So we have and are working on it, but doing what others are doing just because is a terrible way to approach it.

Hope that helps. If your issue is resolved please take a moment to rate and review the plugin or support.
