• Installed and attempted to use the imagebrowser feature. The alt text is displayed above each image. How do you get rid of it? Good luck! Wait, I have to install another plugin just to do this, and make custom fields, and then make changes to the template files with code from a support forum that’s five years old? What about just letting me enter nothing in the alt text field that’s already provided?

    Nope.

Let’s not even get started on allowing your images to link to something other than a lightbox enlargement of themselves. What’s crazy is plain ol’ WordPress without any plugins already lets you do both the alt text customization and the URL links. So you install this and lose functionality, just so you can get “previous” and “next” in buttons underneath your images, and a border around them that you don’t even want? No thanks.

@anthony.professionel – We have tried to add the most commonly requested fields of data and in most cases a minor tweak to an existing template (saved as a new template) will sort out layout changes like you suggested.

If there is any option or feature you think we are missing, please feel free to share your thoughts on them here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

Those most voted will be much more likely to be implemented sooner so every vote counts … and new ideas are more than welcome as well.

Thanks for your feedback here as well, all constructive criticism is also much appreciated, too.

@anthony.professionel – thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. A few thoughts:

*You can edit the actual alt text, just not the front end display of that gallery without using a template. I think that’s probably similar to WordPress.

*You’re right though, that you can’t link a thumbnail to, say, a page. That’s a popular feature request and something that’s definitely on our radar. For what it’s worth, you can do this using NextGEN’s album functionality.

*While you can’t link an image to a specific URL, NextGEN does add a few hundred other options for image management and displays. I think most people who opt to use NextGEN are using it as a whole package for image management.

In any case, it sounds in this case like NextGEN may not have been the solution you need. That’s a bummer. But we appreciate you leaving the feedback, and hope you find an alternative that does work great for you.

    Thanks (Erick).

@anthony.professionel – Quick follow up. Do you really think the issues you described above warrant a 1 star review, taking into account all the other things you can do with NextGEN? If so, that’s definitely fine. If not, just wondering if you can adjust it with the whole 1 to 5 star scale in mind. Thanks again.

    Erick
