Basic concepts about building websites with WP

hi guys

I know how to code a website already, and i want to learn WordPress because i want to become a freelancing webdesigner. I use a page builder (divi) to get the results i want at the moment… Is this the preferred version go get a website in wordpress, in general and as someone who knows how to code? Like are there better solutions than page builders? Maybe partly coding and partly visual? I tried the standart WP editor, but i think in order to style elements, you have to set the style attribute to every element in the HTML version, which gets ugly real quick. I tried elementor, which is much better in my opinion, but also pricy. Thanks in advance.
