“basic authentication without a secure connection” message

  • When I go to my WP site (www.thebalboainn.com/cms) , I get a windows dialog box called ‘Connect to thebalboainn.com)’ saying:

    “The server thebalboainn.com at WP-files requieres a username and password.
    Warning: this server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an unsecure manner (basic authenticationwithout a secure connection)”

    Here I’m ased a user name and password.

    When I click on ‘cancel’ I can access the site but obviously this is not how it should be.

    What is wrong?

    Ups. I found my old post after all.

    This fixed the problem:

    Check for two files inside wp-content/uploads, called:

    .htpasswd
    .htaccess

    To solve the problem, delete or edit them. In my installation, these files were created by a plugin.
