base64 issues with blog by email

Recently I set up the blog by email feature (following the directions on this page). This has brought up two issues:
1)When I send a post to my blog from my blackberry, it arrives in Base64 code. If I go online to a base64 decoder, I see my original text, but on my blog it displays the jumbled-looking base64 code.
2)All my email posts, whether sent from my blackberry or from my PC via thunderbird, are posted with a bunch of jumbled text info about the email at the top, for example: (I added some asterisks and adjusted a few things for privacy reasons)
