Just updated to 1.4. A couple of observations. I have the bar height set to 40 px and in 13.x, when fixed to the bottom, the bar would nicely align with the bottom of the screen. In 1.4, it hovers some 5px (estimate) above the bottom.

The new Bar Width setting seems to be applies twice, first to shrink the bar and the also to shrink the space taken by the icons (same effect is in setting Icon Panel Width). So setting Bar width to for instance 70% gives a 49% wide bar in a 70% wide “bar area”.

    Hi,

thanks for the observations. The first one is fixed, I will add a new version for that.

About the second one: what do you think, should I remove the Icon Panel Width, and the single Bar Width will be enough?

Hi, no I think that the Icon Panel width makes sense from a styling perspective. The problem now is that
    Bar Width: 70%
    Icon Panel Width : 100%

    actually looks like

    Bar Width: 70%
    Icon Panel Width : 70%

So the Bar width gets to be used as Icon Panel Width.

Btw, the idea of the Bar Width was to make “room” for other icons (mostly at the bottom right) but now it seems that other icons still “stack” above the bar at least when bar it set to “Fixed”. Don’t know enough CSS/HTML to have any suggestions, but the idea of leaving room kind of seems not to work in 1.4?

Fixed the issue, checked in a new version. Can you show me a plugin or a site where the room on the right is used? I would like to make that idea working.

Thank you for your help and quick response.

Hi, thanks for the fix, now it works nicely! I tested quickly with a Messenger chat app and actually there was no “interference” with that one so it looked good. In the other case I tested, there might have been some other problem (same Z-index or something, I’m not skilled enough in these things to know?).

So now my remaining wish would be for the “tab” to have a translatable text added :-). To make it translatable, just output the text via either __() or _e() functions.

    Thank you for testing! ??

Let me think about your request about the text on the tab.

Hi, the new update is really great, the text works perfectly and in my view really enhances the usability of the contact bar. Thanks!
