Banner post bleeding onto main page

Hi there awesome folks,

This is an older wordpress site and I’d been asked to add an “events” page to it as a sub one of the main pages — done.

However, in doing so, the home page’s scrolling banner got a little messed up. It used to be that there was some intro text and then you’d click on the “read more” to get the full text; now, for some reason, the entirety of the text is bleeding onto the screen.

I didn’t touch or play with this homepage at all yet it got affected somehow. In researching and trying to debug, I am not even able to see where or how this information resides on the site as the “home” page is actually very different on the wordpress dashboard than what we see on the site.

I did update to the newest wordpress version; I updated the plugins for the entire site; there are some plugins called “rotating image” and “smooth slider”, “promotion slider,” and “Photonic Gallery for Flickr, Picasa, SmugMug, 500px, Zenfolio and Instagram” that may be involved.

I am fairly new to wordpress and am learning the ins and outs as I go along, so I very much appreciate your help and guidance.
