• I’ve been using iThemes Security for quite some time, but I recently enabled the “Remove File Writing Permissions” option, after noticing the warnings in the dashboard.

So, I had to manually ban an IP today and when I realised that it wasn’t actually banned, I found out that the plugin was unable to edit the .htaccess. I took a look at the dashboard’s Rewrite Rules, and the code for the banned IP was there, but it wasn’t added in the actual .htaccess file. After disabling the “Remove File Writing Permissions” option the .htaccess was updated normally.

I am aware of the warning that this option might prevent plugins’ functionalities, but does this apply to iThemes Security too? Also, the “Write to Files” option in the Global Settings was enabled from the begining.
