Banks not shown in iDeal bank selection dropdown. Hiding dropdown not working

Somehow the iDeal bank select dropdown is empty on the Checkout page. We therefore prefer to hide the whole gray balloon with the empty Bank Selection dropdown below the ideal payment method. Customers can select their bank after placing the order.
When deselecting the “Show iDeal bank dropdown” tickbox in the iDeal payment settings, the dropdown does not disappear from the checkout page. We have tried hiding the gray ballon with dropdown using CSS but that won’t work. Maybe you have a hook that allows us to hide this balloon below the iDeal payment?
Either that or if you could resolve the issue why the banks aren’t shown in the dropdown? As it is now, customers are confused by the empty dropdown and this is costing us sales.
